The Happy, Sad, The Good, The Bad:)

8 years and 9 months ago, I found myself in the middle of the street in front of my parents house being proposed to by a hunky man. It was November 14, about 8:30pm. We had just come back from a movie. There was a beautiful full moon, and the air was crisp but comfortable. My 6 year old son, Hayden, was running around the front yard flapping his arms like a wildly scared chicken. His wild flapping stopped short when he noticed that my Big Hunk was on one knee, holding a ring up to me, his moma. He came over just in time to hear me say "YES"! He began jumping up and down, then before the poor man could get up off his knee my little boy jumped onto his back. Kevin stood up,Hayden hanging there, on his back, both were smiling from ear to ear. We hugged for what seemed like forever before running into the house to tell my parents that I would soon be Mrs. Big Hunk, and I could not have been happier about that. We then went out to Village Inn to grab a late piece of 'we are engaged pie' that gave my new fiance a terrible case of food poisoning. Glad he didn't take that as a sign....
2 weeks later out of nowhere on a Saturday afternoon Haydenn called out from his room "DAD, will you come here?" Kevin looked at me as if to say 'is he talking to me?' it was the first time my son had called him that. I was worried that Kevin, might not be ready for this, and that it might freak him out. Instead I could see how touched he was, and I saw him quickly wipe away a tear before he excitedly ran down the hall to answer Hayden's call. I had to wipe away many tears of joy of my own as I watched him go.
We were married less then 3 months later,February 1st 2002 in the Salt Lake Temple. We welcomed our second son, Maxton just 10 months into the marriage. Kevin adopted Hayden and we had him sealed to us in February of 2003. I remember Hayden pushing Maxton in a little baby buggy through the halls of the Temple. He began running, before I had the chance to remind him where we were and to be reverend, a little old lady working in the Temple gave chase. Hayden was making a revving engine sound and had long forgotten where he was. He had no idea he was being chased. I have to admit it was a pretty funny sight to see this little old lady chasing my 7 year old who was pushing my 3 month old as fast as he could through the halls of the Temple.
That was a long awaited day, and it was magnificent beyond words. I was more in love with Kevin then EVER, he had been a father to my son from the day we met, and now it was as if Hayden had been born to him. Kevin took on a lot that first year, we didn't have one second to ourselves, but he never complained. He even flew Hayden and my neice out to us on our honeymoon to California so Hayden could go to Disneyland for the first time. We only had a few days alone. He is a good man with a huge heart.
In 2004 we welcomed our darling Natalie. And our family although we didn't know it at the time would be complete. Oh wait, I apologize Gabby. Our beloved cat Gabby arrived 3 years ago, that is when our family truly became complete.

Many memories, good bad, happy and sad, have filled the time in between. No one else can drive me as crazy as the man I married. He can annoy me to the point in which I would like to throw objects at his head.(sharp ones)
But NO one has ever made me feel so loved, or made me laugh so hard, or ever given me SO MUCH. He knows me, every little and BIG bit. He knows the good, the bad, the UGLY. And he loves me anyways. He forgives quickly, he compliments freely, and he makes me laugh DAILY. He is flawed, THANK HEAVENS, cause believe it or not SO AM I.(I am just better at hiding it;))
Happy 9th Anniversary to my Mr. Kevin Lakey, he makes me and my kids very happy people. And I love the crap out of him.
Ode to 9 years 2gether
Our days sometimes might seem the same
Nights you hoped for passion may turn out lame
We don't always see things in the same light
Haven't you learned yet, I am always RIGHT
My moods can swing from sweet as pie to scary
At times you would like smooth legs, but you get hairy
Remember the times I made you dinner
Forget the times I was a sinner
Soon we will be saggy, gray, and old
But ours will be the best love story ever told.
Happy Anniversary to US!
